In this study, the authors investigated the lithostratigraphy and carbon isotope chemostratigraphy of the Yanjiahe Formation at the Yanjiahe section. δ13C curve is comparable to those from the Laolin section and the Xiaotan section in eastern YunnanProvince. The authors suggest that the Ediacaran-Cambrian boundary be placed at the top of the large negative excursion, i.e., the bottom of the first appearance of small shelly fossils. The Yanjiahe Formation is suggested to be divided into three members in upward sequence. These three members are correlated to the Daibu, Zhongyicun and Dahai members of the Zhujiaqing Formation in eastern YunnanProvince.
