Characteristics of Gas Reservoirs in the Amu Darya Right Bank
Analyses of gas reservoir features and structural traps show that the sedimentary facies are relatively stable platforms where barrier reefs on the platform margin and patch reef flats on the upper ramp control the features and distribution of gas reservoirs. And the barrier reef reservoirs are better than the patch reef flat reservoirs. The gas reservoirs are characterized by a high content of condensate water, great difficulty in differentiating gas and water layers, as well as a relatively large width of gas-water transition zone. Besides, most of the large gas reservoirs in the Block B have edge water, while the numerous small gas reservoirs have bottom water.
