This paper analyzed the difficulties and challenges that the exploration of deep coal resources is facing currently, including the present status and development tendency of deep coal resources exploration technology in China. Based on the research in Handan-Fengfeng mining area, the authors studied three parts： the features of coalfield structure that influenced the exploration of deep coal resources, the main exploration methods for deep coal resources, the exploration mode of Handan-Fengfeng deep mining area. The paper emphasized the importance of the shallow coalfield information used in deep coal resources exploration. Finally, based on synthetical analysis of Handan-Fengfeng deep mining area, the exploration model of the deep part of producing mining areas is built up.
