Saline groundwater is distributed in the middle eastern region of Hebei Province. Since a large number of underground freshwater is exploited, the question is whether the geological environment is affected by saline groundwater invading into fresh groundwater resources. Saline groundwater threatens the underground freshwater supply, and the quality of fresh groundwater becomes worse. The main reasons are that groundwater is over-exploited and that there is inferior water well technology. The present situation of saline groundwater invading into underground freshwater resources is analyzed in this paper.
