Severely-degraded forests and damaged wetlands in the source area of the Pearl River have caused a series of eco-geological problems like rocky desertification, severe soil erosion, frequent floods and droughts. Measures are proposed to establish a security system. The system is supposed to introduce technologies and institutional rules on the basis of general education. And this paper also advocates a policy of industry-structure readjustment, land-to-forest conversion and energy-structure optimization in rural areas, and also proposes a network of eco-geological environment monitoring.
