The Fuling granite is located in the southern part of State w:st="on">Anhui province and to the east of Huangshan Mountain. Apatite fission track (AFT) study of the Fuling granite shows ages ranging from 51±5 Ma to 68±7 Ma. The results show that the granite rose at a variable rate since formation. The uplift of the pluton gradually accelerated up to 55 Ma, with a rate of 73 mm/ka at 55 Ma. Since then the uplift rate slowed down to an average of 60 mm/ka at 54 Ma. During 54 Ma to 51 Ma, the uplift of the granite speeded up again and reached a value of 70 mm/ka at 51 Ma. As Huangshan granite is similar in geotectonic location, lithology and intrusive period as Fuling granite, the authors therefore infer that Huangshan granite may have a similar thermal history as Fuling granite.
