The Menglian area is the southwestward extension of Sanjiang fold system, the collision suture of Late Palaeozoic Gondwana and Yangtze Plate. In this area, there is the rock assemblage of ultrabasic, intermediate-basic lava, volcanic clastic rock, sandstone, mudstone and silicic rock. And the Early Permian Radiolaria has been discovered in the silicic rock. Then, the Huoju Formation is set up, which belongs to the sub-abyssal facies environment. The time and sedimentary environment of it are discussed in this paper.
