Based on the previous work, the regulations and characteristics of the EM coupling effects of middle-grads configuration at the surface of homogeneous half-space in dual-frequency IP surveys has been discussed and numerated in this paper. Firstly, based on Maxwell equation and proceed from vector potential and boundary condition, the harmonic electromagnetic field induced by the horizontal electric dipole source located in the isotropic and linear symmetrical half-space are introduced. Then, for the wire laying means of the parallel and the wire laying means of common-line of middle-grads routine survey configuration, the material equation of EM coupling effect is educed and the regulations and characteristics of the apparent amplitude-frequency aroused by EM coupling effects varying with some parameters, such as the distance of current electrode, working frequency, resistivity of earth, and the offset and so on are analyzed. Finally, the comparison for effects of EM coupling between the two wire layout means is conducted and the results show that the EM coupling effect of the wire layout means of parallel is more intense than the wire laying means of common-line.
