Upper Water Mass Structure Evolution in the Western Philippine Sea since Mid-Pleistocene—Evidence from the Abundance of Coccolith Species Florisphaera Profunda
详细信息
摘要

Calypso core MD06-3050 (15°57.0943’N,124°46.7747’E, length 31.74m, water depth 2967m) recovered during Marco Polo2(MD-155) IMAGES XIV cruise in the Benham Rise, east off Luzon Island in the Western Philippine Sea, was analyzed to study the Quaternary calcareous nannofossil records. The results of abundance of F. profunda show long term trend over the last 1040 ka. Four stages were identified: Stage-1 (1 014~900 ka), Stage-2 (900~478 ka), Stage-3 (478~280 ka) and Stage-4 (from 280 ka to holocene). The authors used REDFIT38 to analyze the F. profunda  spectrum of the two intervals. The authors concluded that low latitude has more influences in upper water structure during the interval before MBE.
