In article number 1601549, Dongjiang Yang, Shaojun Guo, and co-workers report on a simple seaweed biomass conversion strategy towards porous LiFePO4/carbon hybrid microtubes (LFP/CMTs) with very low Fe-Li antisite defects. The low Fe-Li antisite re-sults from the cation confinement by the novel “egg-box” structure in the seaweed-derived sodium alginate template. These LFP/CMT electrodes exhibit superior discharge capacity and outstanding rate capacity for lithium ion batteries.
