In article number 1601417, Chong S. Yoon, Yang-Kook Sun, and co-workers report a compositionally graded Li[Ni0.61Co0.12Mn0.27]O2 cathode composed of rod-shaped primary particles having a unique crystallographic texture. The cathode is able to maintain 84% of the initial capacity after 3000 cycles at 100% depth of discharge in a full cell with a graphite anode. This cathode could ensure operation of an electric vehicle for over 10 years with high specific energy density and economic advantage.
