Pale yellow crystals of the title compounds are prepared from mixtures of M(OAc)₂ (M: Zn, Cd), KOH, Sb₂S₃, and thiourea as reactive flux (autoclave, 473 K, 4 d, 47% and 78% yield for the Zn and Cd compound, respectively).
