On page 7386, T. Yoon and K. S. Kim describe a CoS-Co(OH)2@aMoS2+x/Ni foam catalyst for water splitting that is synthesized in a one step reaction. The highly effective bifunctional electrocatalyst requires only one electrolyte environment for oxygen (red) evolution at the layered structures of CoS-doped β-Co(OH)2, and for hydrogen (blue) evolution from the unsaturated sulfur site of amorphous MoS2+x.
