H₂₀ [P₈W₆₀Ta₁₂(H₂O)₄ (OH)₈O₂₃₆]·125H₂O (H-1) is prepared by passing an aqueous solution of the precursor K₈Na₈H₄ [P₈W₆₀Ta₁₂(H₂O)₄ (OH)₈O₂₃₆]·42H₂O through an acidified ion exchange resin and subsequent solvent evaporation (94.7% yield).
