A plasmonic gold (pGOLD) chip-based diagnosis of lung cancer is performed through multiplexed near-infrared detection of biomarkers in patient serum samples. On page 7994, J. Lou, K. Qian, and co-workers demonstrate that the device offers markedly improved limit-of-quantification, limit-of-detection, reproducibility, and higher diagnostic sensitivity and specificity over traditional biochips and Luminex technology currently in use in hospitals from just 10 μl of human serum.
