REP values of major PAHs activating the human AhR were estimated. Differences up to one order of magnitude found between human and rodent REPs. Differential PAH metabolism may affect REP estimates in human and rodent cells. Human AhR appears to be more sensitive to polar compounds in complex mixtures.
