A novel fabrication approach for improving the mechanical and sound absorbing properties of porous sound-absorbing ceramics

Low-cost porous sound-absorbing ceramics are prepared from recycling steel slag. Secondary mullitization can be largely accelerated using V2O5 and AlF3 for additives. The mullite crystals would contribute to the excellent properties of the ceramics. The growth of mullite crystals can be promoted via an in situ reaction sintering. The sintering temperature of the ceramics can be decreased by the use of steel slag.
