Low-temperature treatment of high-solid municipal food waste is limited. Biomass acclimation in PADSBR ensured a high-stabilization of the digestion process. VFA components did not accumulate in the digester and thus, no risk of acidification. Total kjeldahl nitrogen concentrations of 5.2–10.9 g/kg did not inhibit the system. PADSBR is efficient in saving the heat energy than mesophilic/thermophilic process.
