Two-dimensional air-slot phoxonic crystal cavities which can confine simultaneously optical and acoustic waves are proposed. The acoustic and optical waves are highly confined near/in the air-slot. The high overlap of the photonic and phononic cavity modes significantly enhances the moving interface effect. Different factors which affect the acousto-optical coupling are discussed.
