Pilot-scale removal and recovery of dissolved phosphate from secondary wastewater effluents with reusable ZnFeZr adsorbent @ Fe3O4/SiO2 particles with magnetic harvesting
Tailored ZnFeZr-coated magnetic particles sorb reversibly phosphate in wastewater. Effluent concentrations <0.05 mg/L PO4P were achieved in the treated wastewater. Particles were regenerated in NaOH eluent and reused in numerous lab-scale cycles. Pilot test with 1.5 m3 wastewater verified proof-of-concept showing high efficiency. Phosphate enriched reclaimed eluate was used for successful struvite recovery.
