Experiments on deposition of submicron aerosols on liquid surfaces. Deposition velocity over the friction velocity varies with the air-water temperature difference. For submicron particles, hygroscopic growth is not a dominant mechanism. For air-water temperature differences above −3 °C, the turbulent diffusion dominates. For air-water temperature differences below −3 °C, the addition of phoretic phenomena is essential.
