This study prospectively validates a prediction model to improve diagnosis of AHF in undifferentiated dyspneic ED patients. Despite pretrial education, predictive model results were not used in decision making when provided. Owing to a lack of uptake by clinicians, the model itself did not affect clinician diagnostic accuracy. The model itself was more accurate than standard NT-proBNP cut-points and/or clinical gestalt.
