Salix cinerea was the preferred forage for moose in the Biebrza national park. Pellet density and N-input was higher inside Salix patches compared to outside. Moose speed up local recycling of nitrogen in willow patches. We hypothesize that moose stimulate growth of willow rather than suppressing it.
