EsBAS and CYP716A244 genes were isolated from Eleutherococcus senticosus. Heterologous expression of the EsBAS in yeast resulted in β-amyrin production. Heterologous expression of the both EsBAS and CYP716A244 in yeast resulted in oleanolic acid production. β-amyrin and oleanolic acid were produced by transgenic tobacco.
