High Si content Al alloys of ADC 12 were successfully anodized without cracks. AlO2- anions were deposited on the substrate during self-sealing anodization. Thickness uniformity, Vickers hardness, and corrosion behavior in Tafel plot were greatly improved. Si islands were completely covered by Al2O3 deposits.
