A new method was developed for the detection of organotins in antifouling paint. Current sediment methods may underestimate concentrations in paint flakes. Organotin compounds were detected in paint from leisure boats around the Baltic Sea. TBT was detected in all paint samples but several samples also contained TPhT. Tin can be used as an indicator for the presence of organotin compounds on hulls.
