Silica shell formation on BCP micellar templates is investigated using in-situ DLS and TEM. The whole process of shell formation and growth involves several distinct stages. Each stage can be distinguished by monitoring changes in hydrodynamic particle size. The mechanism of silica shell formation is proposed.
