Simplified finite element models of connections under cyclic loading was proposed. The behaviours of four connection types under axial force and bending were studied. The axial force level and direction significantly modified the connection response. The axial force effect varied depending on connection type. The modelling results were compared with Eurocode 3, Part 1.8.
