In vivo RhoA knockdown reduced retrograde apoptosis signaling in identified RS neurons between 2 and 10 weeks after SCI. RhoA knockdown reduced initial axon retraction, and at 10 weeks, increased axon regeneration beyond the lesion. RhoA knockdown may both enhance axon regeneration and protect neurons from retrograde death after SCI.
