This is the first observation of multiple paternity in loggerhead turtles nesting on Turkey. The frequency of multiple paternity was assessed using two microsatellite markers. The frequency of multiple paternity for loggerheads nesting on Dalyan Beach is 70%. High multiple paternity levels depend on the density of individuals in a population. Our data suggest that successful inter-nesting mating does not take place in Dalyan.
