Pure Si clathrate Ba8−xEuxAl5Si41 has been synthesized. The core technique is alkali and acid washing in order to remove impurity phases. The decrease of a implies the incorporation of the Eu into the cages. The incorporation of Eu strongly destroys superconductivity. The dilute magnetism gives rise to the occurrence of ferromagnetic interaction.
