New glasses based on Sm2O3-Bi2O3-B2O3 were synthesized. Thermal properties and electronic polarizability of glasses were clarified. Nano-crystallization of Sm3 +-doped Bi2GeO5 and Bi4Ge3O12 was confirmed. Morphology of Bi2GeO5 nanocrystals was ellipsoidal. Highly oriented crystal lines were patterned by laser.
