We conducted a meta-analysis to determine the effect of bile acid sequestrants (BASs) on lipid profile and glycaemia status. Our results indicate the significant favorable effect of BASs on serum total cholesterol, high density lipoprotein and low density lipoprotein. This meta-analysis suggests that BASs therapy significantly improves glycaemic markers including fasting blood glucose, HbA1c levels.
