Ni@Pt and Cu@Pt (core@shell) bimetallic overlayer catalysts were synthesized. Weakened H2 adsorption strength was observed for both overlayer catalysts. Cu@Pt showed higher reactivity than pure Cu and pure Pt in furfural hydrogenation.
