PTSD is associated with glucocorticoid (GC) receptor (GR) and FKBP5 alterations.
However, their interplay and role in endocrine-immune signaling in PTSD is unclear.
High GC-sensitive PTSD patients showed a linked expression of GRα and FKBP5.
This suggests a physiological adaptation preserving immune-relevant GC signaling.
GRα-FKBP5 de-synchronization was observed in low GC-sensitive PTSD patients.
This may indicate unraveling endocrine-immune communication or a transition stage.
