Primer sets targeting MIC1 in C. parvum and C. hominis made for real-time NASBA. C. parvum and C. hominis oocysts detected down to 5 oocysts in 10 μl. C. parvum oocysts distinguished from C. hominis oocysts using this NASBA assay. MIC1 transcripts detected in both living and inactivated oocysts.
