Linoleamide and oleamide inhibit the Ca2+-ATPase activity of three SERCA isoforms. Other primary fatty acid amides (PFAAs) tested hardly inhibit SERCA activity. The IC50 of SERCA inhibition is ≤ 53 μM for linoleamide and ≤ 34 μM for oleamide. Dissociation constants for the SERCA–PFAA interactions vary from 1.6 to 55 μM. Linoleamide and oleamide act in lowering the apparent Ca2+ affinity of SERCA.
