Fruit quality characterization of eleven commercial mandarin cultivars in Spain

In this study, we characterized the chemical and physical aspects of eleven commercial mandarins [鈥楥lementine鈥?(鈥楥lementina Fina鈥? 鈥楥lemenules鈥? 鈥楬ernandina鈥?, tangor (鈥極rtanique鈥? 鈥楢fourer鈥? 鈥楨llendale鈥?, and hybrid cultivars (鈥楩ortuna鈥? 鈥楰ara鈥? 鈥楳or鈥? 鈥楴ova鈥?and 鈥榊osemite鈥?] in the Spanish southeast. The analysis revealed that 鈥楨llendale鈥?showed the highest amount of juice, 鈥楴ova鈥?and 鈥楥lementina Fina鈥?displayed high total soluble solids and low titratable acidity, and 鈥楥lementina Fina鈥?showed a particularly high concentration of Potassium. The cultivars 鈥楥lementina Fina鈥?and 鈥楥lemenules鈥?were the mandarins most appropriate for fresh consumption, with small-medium sized fruits and a high percentage of excellent quality juice.
