Paddle wheel and butterfly shaped polynuclear complexes are synthesized. H- bond plays key roles in enhancing the thermal stabilities of the complexes. The closest intermetallic separation between Cu⋯Cu is formed. A blue fluorescence is observed for the dinuclear zinc complex.
