Allelochemical pyrogallic acid (PA) could induce PCD in M. aeruginosa. PA-induced PCD in M. aeruginosa was caspase-3(-like)-dependent. ROS may act as a mediator and lead to caspase-3(-like) activation. Autoxidation of PA stimulated ROS production in M. aeruginosa.
