The sludge derived carbon modified with 0 °C acid was used as catalyst in CWPO. RSM was used to optimize CWPO reaction conditions of m-cresol for the first time. The kinetic model was disclosed to be correlated with residue target concentration. The proposed degradation pathways of m-cresol were well proven by DFT method.
