Ytterbium and erbium molybdenum oxides in a cubic structure were realized by partial substitution with Ce4+ and Zr4+. Novel fluorite like structures of Er5CeMoO12.5 and Yb5MMoO12.5 (M = Ce, Zr) were determined by Rietveld refinements. Low bulk and grain boundary activation energies in the same range as 8-YSZ were determined by EIS. Ion conductivity in these new materials can be attributed to the oxygen vacancies present in the defect fluorite structure.
