The distinct parts of Gangdese batholith underwent different cooling histories. The Late Oligocene–Early Miocene rapid cooling was caused by Gangdese Thrust or erosion driven by regional rock uplift in an extensional setting. 20–10 Ma rapid cooling was related to river incision or Asian monsoon, or north–south normal fault relevant to different backgrounds.
