The decay proceeds at leading order via a <span id="mmlsi4" class="mathmlsrc">source" class="mathImg" data-mathURL="/science?_ob=MathURL&_method=retrieve&_eid=1-s2.0-S0370269316302325&_mathId=si4.gif&_user=111111111&_pii=S0370269316302325&_rdoc=1&_issn=03702693&md5=0478a5da6ae961b8c054bb46a7348375">ss="imgLazyJSB inlineImage" height="10" width="48" alt="View the MathML source" style="margin-top: -5px; vertical-align: middle" title="View the MathML source" src="/sd/grey_pxl.gif" data-inlimgeid="1-s2.0-S0370269316302325-si4.gif">script>style="vertical-align:bottom" width="48" alt="View the MathML source" title="View the MathML source" src="http://origin-ars.els-cdn.com/content/image/1-s2.0-S0370269316302325-si4.gif">script><span class="mathContainer hidden"><span class="mathCode">si4.gif" overflow="scroll">bstretchy="false">→sssspan>span>span> loop transition and is therefore sensitive to the possible presence of particles beyond the Standard Model. A first observation is reported with a significance of 5.9 standard deviations. The value of the branching fraction is measured to be <span id="mmlsi5" class="mathmlsrc">source" class="mathImg" data-mathURL="/science?_ob=MathURL&_method=retrieve&_eid=1-s2.0-S0370269316302325&_mathId=si5.gif&_user=111111111&_pii=S0370269316302325&_rdoc=1&_issn=03702693&md5=69bac0455e71c4dce989969e9456293b">ss="imgLazyJSB inlineImage" height="19" width="201" alt="View the MathML source" title="View the MathML source" src="/sd/grey_pxl.gif" data-inlimgeid="1-s2.0-S0370269316302325-si5.gif">script>style="vertical-align:bottom" width="201" alt="View the MathML source" title="View the MathML source" src="http://origin-ars.els-cdn.com/content/image/1-s2.0-S0370269316302325-si5.gif">script><span class="mathContainer hidden"><span class="mathCode">si5.gif" overflow="scroll">stretchy="false">(5.18&plusmn;1.04&plusmn;subsup>0.35space width="0.2em">space>&minus;0.62space width="0.2em">space>+0.67subsup>stretchy="false">)&times;sup>10&minus;6sup>span>span>span>, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third is related to external inputs. Triple-product asymmetries are measured to be consistent with zero.
