Alcohol feeding to rats causes some mitochondrial dysfunction in the liver. Alcohol feeding predominately causes mitochondrial remodeling in the liver. Mitochondrial remodeling includes increased G3P-driven respiration, NADH-NADPH levels. Greater alcohol dosing increases mitochondrial remodeling, not dysfunction. Mitochondrial remodeling plays an important role in adaptation to stress in the liver.
