A method is proposed for assessing the vulnerability of pumps to trash blockage. Vulnerability is computed based on resilience, exposure, and susceptibility. Two forms of vulnerability are computed, namely local and global vulnerability. The method finds application in coastal mega-cities of developing nations. The usefulness of the method is demonstrated in an application to Jakarta.
