The coal MILD combustion was achieved in a 0.3WMth down-fire furnace. The jet velocity was up to 112 m/s and the preheating temperature is relatively low. The reaction zone greatly enlarged in which the reaction rate decrease. The flame temperature decreased, while the temperature distribution became more uniform. The NOx emission largely decreased, but the char burnout rate also decreased.
