文摘
Nowadays, the reinforced metals with carbon nanotubes have become of much interest due to their desirable range of mechanical and thermal properties. In this study, the aim is to present a functionally graded material component which composes of carbon nanotube reinforced aluminum composite-ceramic instead of pure aluminum. The selection of such materials was based on the particular properties of aluminum as low density, high thermal conductivity, and considerable strength. In this paper, a functionally graded disc with aluminum matrix carbon nanotube-ceramic material is considered, which is subjected to thermal shock conditions. For the heat conduction analysis and comparison of the temperature profile of pure metal-ceramic and metal matrix carbon nanotube-ceramic, the differential quadrature method was utilized to solve the transient equations as a précised numerical method with high capability of convergence. The obtained results also are in good agreement with the previous works from finite difference method, finite element method, and exact solutions. It is found that by adding 5% carbon nanotube to the FGM disc the temperature transition time could be decreased.
