All-optical characterization of fluids through thermal conductivity measurement. Small, robust, all-optical, all-silica sensor immune to EMI and corrosive environments; no optical surfaces are in direct contact with fluid. Sensor can identify different fluids out of the know fluid set, can be used as gas/liquid and liquid–liquid phase detector, can be used to determinate liquids’ binary mixtures mass ratio, etc.
