Reconsidering “community liberated”: How class and the national context shape personal support networks

This paper tests the “community liberated” theory of social support. Education strongly predicts the geographic dispersion of personal support networks. The national context mediates the spatial dynamics of personal networks. “Community liberated” theory best applies to educated populations in post-industrial economies.
